Outerwear

Firstly, Happy New Year!

I wrote a blog about outerwear at the beginning of the season, but didn’t manage to get it online, so I thought it would be appropriate to adjust it slightly and get it up for you to have a read through. There may be some pieces in the sales that you could pick up if you have holes in your outerwear wardrobe. The reason I think it is still relevant to go through the outerwear trends for this current season, is because the majority of the pieces are wardrobe staples, so they will be investment pieces that will see you through year after year. As we have moved in to 2022 the weather has suddenly got colder, so the heavier, warmer outerwear is needed now. I would say that the catwalk trends were kind to us and our bank balances this season, and you may find that you can pull together some or all of these pieces from your existing wardrobe. However, you may just want some inspiration and newness in your outerwear collection, and hopefully you will be able to find something you like here.

Puffer Jacket / Coat

Firstly, it’s the comfort blanket warmth of the puffer coat. Autumn winter 2020 was definitely all about the khaki and neutral toned puffer, but this season sees every form of puffer included. Be it a bright colourful one, as seen on the D&G runway, or the sleeveless oversized versions seen at Rick Owens. There is certainly one for everyone and the high street has not disappointed either. The bloggers favourite of the oversized collarless Frankie Shop quilted jacket has inspired numerous versions on the high street for those slightly warmer days.

Check

Lots of checks were seen across all categories on the catwalks, but a check winter coat is a wardrobe staple in my eyes. They add interest to a simple outfit and if you keep the check neutral or monochrome, then it will work year after year for you.

Cos Tailored Check Coat £225

River Island Check Coat is reduced to £80

H&M check coat is reduced to £90

Classic Belted Coat

A belted coat creates a cinched in waist and will flatter most body shapes. It also gives you the opportunity to change the belt to add some interest to your look or outfit.

Here are some current styles available on the high street.

Reiss Belted Coat is reduced to £275

Stradivarius Belted Coat is reduced to £69.99

French Connection Belted Coat is reduced to £168

Camel Coat

Finally, a classic camel coat, if you are going to invest in a winter coat this season and you don’t already own a camel coat, then this would be a great place to start. Here is some inspiration for you.

River Island Duster Coat £80

Next Unlined Camel Coat £55

New Look Camel coat is reduced to £19

I will hopefully be able to get more blog posts up this year, so if you have got this far and there are certain areas you would like me to discuss then please drop me a message.

Thanks
