Outerwear November 2022

Fri 25 Nov 2022

These are six of the key outerwear pieces for this Autumn Winter season that I am highlighting in this latest blog.

1. A Built In Scarf Coat

2. An Animal Printed Coat

3. Shearling Coat

4. Aviator Jacket

5. Quilted / Puffer Coat

6. Classic Camel Coat

It's Black Friday so could be a good time to invest in your winter coat, but I would also like to add that you should only purchase what you need this weekend and don't feel pressured into buying lots of things that are not necessary. If you wouldn't pay full price for an item don't buy it because it is reduced, it will just end up sitting in your wardrobe unworn. If you have your autumn winter wardrobe shopping list then by all means use this weekend as a way to get those items but stick to your list and try not to be tempted by the "bargains". If possible buy those more premium brands that ordinarily are out of your price range so you are buying quality pieces that are going to last.

A built In Scarf Coat

The premium brand Tôteme based in Stockholm first launched their scarf jacket hybrid back in 2021, but have repeated it again this year and other brands have created versions of this. The Tôteme one will set you back £690 so it's an expensive purchase but there are alternatives available, like this Ted Baker one. H&M and Jaeger also have this style covered. I have put a very classic, more formal look together, but this could definitely be styled with jeans and trainers for a dressed down look.

Built in scarf coat, Ted Baker, £227

Black rollneck jumper, M&S, £29.50

Textured tailored trouser, Zara, £45.99

Black tote bag, Jigsaw, £220

Black court shoe, Office, £40

An Animal Printed Coat

Animal print is like a neutral with a twist, this style will not date and will add some interest into your outerwear collection. I've styled this John Lewis leopard coat in a casual way with a cosy cream knit and an easy pair of straight leg jeans. However, this could be dressed up for a night out as it has a glam vibe to it too.

Leopard print coat, John Lewis, £149

Sunglasses, & Other Stories, £23

Cream rollneck jumper, Mango, £28.79

Black beanie, Ganni, £75

Black straight leg jean, Cos, £59

Black ankle boot, Jigsaw, £122

Black bag, & Other Stories, £165

Shearling Coat

There are two ways to buy into the shearling coat style and the first is the long full length coat. The one I have styled here is from Boden but M&S, Reiss and other high street brands have this covered too. The beauty of this Boden one is that it is also reversible, which is a great detail and gives you the option to have it as a full length cream fur coat, which would be amazing styled tonally with cream and beige items.

Shearling coat, Boden, £260

Black shirt, H&M, £17.99

Gold tooth necklace, Eleven Fifteen Jewellery, £50

Celine triomphe belt, £400

Indigo jean, Me&Em, £175

Black bag, Demellier, £360

Black boots, Office, £99

Aviator Jacket

The other way to do the shearling is in a jacket and an Aviator is a classic shape that will not date. A great investment into your winter wardrobe. I have styled this Mint Velvet jacket in a very casual way with jeans, a lovely piece of knitwear and a pair of Dr Martens. However, as with all of these outerwear pieces this jacket could definitely be worn on a night out in a more glamorous way with heels and a pretty top.

Aviator jacket, Mint Velvet, £189

Knitted cardigan, Arket, £69

Houndstooth scarf, All Saints, £99

Canvas tote bag, Adanola, £27.99

Straight leg jean, Everlane, £69

Dr Martens, £159

Quilted / Puffer Coat

This is the ultimate cosy coat, it's like being dressed in a sleeping bag! Perfect for those wet and cold wintery walks, school runs or football pitch side lines. I have styled this in a very luxe leisurewear outfit of leggings, hoody and trainers. These puffer coats will go with anything though so don't be concerned that this is purely a leisurewear piece.

Quilted coat, Mango, £119.99

Grey hoody, M&S, £17.50

Black all day leggings, Sweaty Betty, £70

Leopard print bag, Ganni, £110

Socks (3 pack), WAT. The Brand, £25

New Balance 327 trainers, Schuh, £100

Classic Camel Coat

I have talked about a camel coat being a wardrobe staple in the past. There are different styles you can choose from a double breasted coat, to a duster coat but here I have styled a classic belted camel coat. I have put this together in a smart casual way with black trousers and trainers. This coat will work with jeans or dresses in both a formal and more dressed down way.

Belted camel coat, M&S, £149

Black crew neck jumper, Cos, £69

White blouse, Mint Velvet, £79

Gold necklace, Abbot Lyon, £55

Black trousers, Mango, £29.99

NY Yankees cap, £21

Grey scarf, Mango, £22.99

White trainers, Air and Grace, £159

I hope that you have found some inspiration in these outfits and as always if you have any queries or would like help with your wardrobe then please get in touch,

Thanks
