Autumn Winter 2023 Footwear Staples

In my last blog I talked about key clothing items for your wardrobe that would stand the test of time. This blog is focussing on the footwear to finish off those outfits.

Ballet & Mary-Jane Flats

This is a super girly but very comfortable choice. When worn with a lovely pair of slouchy jeans the ballet shoe looks less prim and more on trend but can also look great with a satin skirt and belted jacket as worn by @carolinesstylehacks. How about a metallic or embellished pair for that extra edge?

Loafers

I have worn my simple loafers for a number of seasons when I want something a bit more formal than a classic trainer. There are chunky options if that is your vibe or stick to a classic shape and pair with some leather trousers to give them a different vibe.

Trainers

I certainly wouldn’t be able to live without a variety of these in my wardrobe! There are so many different styles available that there is definitely something for everyone. Trainers can honestly be worn with anything; jeans, trousers, jumpsuits, dresses, skirts or shorts. Add a pop of colour or keep them tonal for a more streamlined look.

Pumps, Mules & Sling-backs

Pointed toe heels were all over the catwalks. The ladylike trend doesn’t stop at heels, the ballet flat is also key as mentioned above. A sling-back kitten heel is an effortless shoe and slightly more comfortable than a high stiletto. These can be styled with an ankle grazer jean or tailored trousers, dresses or skirts. Classic black will always work but you could also choose a fab metallic pump for an edgier look.

Knee High & Ankle Boots

I am excited that boot season is finally here! A traditional knee high or if you are feeling daring then an on trend thigh high boot is a must this season. Square toes are important in a more elegant shape but let’s also consider the chunky combat boot for a more casual look. Find your style and look and pair the footwear to it.

Comfort Cosy

Not technically a catwalk trend but certainly a strong contender for your footwear collection. Birkenstock clogs can be worn with jeans or dresses and as the temperature drops then why not add a cosy sock.

Mini Uggs were around last AW and they still have a place for that cosy vibe.

Western

There are different levels of western that you can take. Perhaps you would like an ankle version which look great with wide leg jeans or a knee high to pair with dresses, skirts or your leggings.

Hopefully you can find some inspiration here on how to style various footwear styles. Remember to look at preloved retailers to add new pieces to your wardrobe before buying brand new. As always, if you need any help with your wardrobe and style then please get in touch.
