Autumn Winter 2023 Outerwear

The catwalks had everything from hourglass, tailored cuts, bold and muted tones, animal prints and classic trenches. However, if you are going to make one purchase this season then I would suggest a long black wool coat if you don’t already own one. I’ve pulled together some key shapes for the season and how to style them to give you some inspiration.

Black Wool Coat

Very much a key item for the season. Ensure that it is a nice long length coat to get the full catwalk inspiration. There are many options available with single or double breasted, belted to create the hourglass silhouette or wide shoulders for the boxy, masculine look, so choose the one that suits your style.

Animal Print Coat

This is a surprisingly versatile option which will give your outfit a fun edge. An animal coat can be dressed up with heels for the evening but will equally look great paired with trainers for a more casual look. I've styled this Boden coat in a more workwear way, which is another option.

Quilting

Softer than the heavy puffers from previous seasons and in soft, muted tones, a quilted coat is the ultimate layering essential.
